Environment - Siwa Oasis

The Siwa Environmental Amelioration Project (SEAP) is a five component project that aims to conserve the natural and cultural resources of the Siwa region through the promotion of environmentally sustainable practices. It is part of the Egyptian Italian Environmental Cooperation Program (EIECP).

In the main oasis, SEAP aims to develop sustainable agriculture, supporting the Siwa Association for Development Environment Conservation (SCDEC) a micro-credit Association, and improving solid waste management in the town of Siwa.

In the region at large, it will support the strengthening of the recently established Protected Area. Three national United Nations Volunteers (UNVs) are part of the Project Management Unit (PMU) that will supervise the first components of the project and oversee the development of the Protected Area.
