What we do
Asmaa UNV, School in Aswan, talking to local women
The United Nations Volunteers (UNV) programme in Egypt recruits national UNV volunteers, who work as field workers, specialists and associates. These UNV volunteers participate in a wide variety of development projects throughout Egypt and with different UN agencies. The programme also fields Egyptian International UNV volunteers in other developing countries.

UNV Associates are recruited to support different projects; they are usually highly specialized professionals willing to volunteer their time and share their expertise for a few hours a week.

UNV Egypt promotes volunteerism, celebrating International Volunteer Day every year in early December where thousands of volunteers and potential volunteers gather to share their work with the public.

The Corporate Volunteer Initiative in Egypt aims to bridge the private and social sectors of society, ensuring a smooth transfer of knowledge and expertise to Egyptian NGOs. There is also the ‘Injaz’ project with Save the Children in which private sector employees dedicate some of their spare time to teaching in governmental schools in slum areas of Cairo.

Information is available on a wide range of our projects.
